Padres-Phillies Swap: Peralta for Rosario

Earlier today, officials from the San Diego Padres and the Philadelphia Phillies announced that they had finalized negotiations on a trade between the two teams. The deal will send 31-year-old LF David Peralta to Philadelphia in exchange for 22-year-old SS Amed Rosario.
In his career Peralta has racked up 594 hits with a .288 average and .346 on-base percentage. His numbers include 108 doubles, 36 triples, and 61 home runs, along with 288 runs scored and 255 RBIs.
Rosario's career batting average is .259. In 191 games, he has gotten 193 hits, 15 home runs, 68 RBIs and scored 75 runs.

Tampa Bay-Atlanta Deal: Hamels for Bird

Tampa Bay and Atlanta have agreed to a trade today. 34-year-old LHP Cole Hamels will go to the Braves. In exchange the Rays will receive 25-year-old 1B Greg Bird.
Lifetime Hamels has compiled a 157-112 record with a 3.45 ERA in 392 starts.
His career numbers show Bird is currently carrying a .223 lifetime batting average with 49 home runs and 134 RBIs.

Reid Hired in Houston

Jim Reid has now officially taken over as GM and manager of the Houston Astros.
"There's a lot of faith in him to do the job, but I'm not so sure how much rope he will get," said a Major League Baseball source close to the team, who wished to stay anonymous.
"They're really counting on him to do the job," he added about the 43-year-old out of The United States.
