Kirby Yates was dominant and cool under pressure this year, and his standout performance has earned the Columbus Clippers reliever recognition as the 2018 American Conference Reliever of the Year.

"I was just doing my job, and my job is to get people out," said the 31-year-old out of Koloa, Hawaii.

The award winner made 57 relief appearances this year and had 7 saves. He fanned 111 batters in 68 innings, with 28 walks. He pitched to a record of 2 wins and 2 losses to go with his 2.25 ERA.

He received 30 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jesen Therrien of the Salt Lake Bees finished second in voting, while Tyler Bashlor of the Norfolk Tides finished third.
