Ellis Fires Shutout in Durham Win Sunday, June 17th, 2018 The Buffalo Bisons ran into a buzzsaw at Coca-Cola Field today as Durham Bulls starter Chris Ellis cut them down to size, 8-0, tossing a 2-hit shutout. "That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," Bulls manager told reporters after the game. "Chris knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one." In the complete game whitewash, the Durham hurler doled out no walks and registered 9 strikeouts. So far this year Ellis has made 13 starts, tossed 82.2 innings, struck out 66 batters and walked 18. His record is 6-3 with a 3.05 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .231 batting average. |
