El Paso Whitewashes Sacramento, Thornton Winner Wednesday, June 27th, 2018 Trent Thornton was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the El Paso Chihuahuas hurler tossed a 5-hit, complete game shutout against the Sacramento River Cats. "I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Thornton. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings." Thornton walked 0 and struck out 6 in the 7-0 victory. In pitching stats this season Thornton has rung up 6 wins and 3 losses in 16 games.
