Hit Streak Now at 20 for Fernandez

The Columbus Clippers stopped the Rochester Red Wings today 9-3 and Jose Miguel Fernandez collected a base hit yet again. The Columbus second baseman finished with 1 hit to run his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20.
"I want to get a hit every time up," a visibly excited Fernandez told reporters after the contest. "I want to get a hit every game I play. Right now, I feel like I could take this streak to 100 games." Jose Miguel Fernandez struck out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, grounded out in the 7th, struck out in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th.
This season Fernandez is swinging the bat at a .314 rate with 95 hits in 303 at-bats. To date he has hit 11 home runs, scored 38 runs and driven in 55.
