Mud Hens Chill Fernandez's Hot Streak Wednesday, July 11th, 2018 Jose Miguel Fernandez came rolling into today's game against the Toledo Mud Hens with a 23-game hitting string, but he left it on the field at Fifth Third Field. The 30-year-old Columbus Clippers second baseman went 0-for-2 against the Mud Hens as the Clippers fell, 7-6. "I swung at a couple pitches I probably shouldn't have and I didn't swing at a couple I probably should have," he said, grimacing. "But that's what makes a hit streak so impressive in the first place -- it only takes a couple mistakes to end it all." Thus far this year Fernandez is hitting .313 with 11 home runs, 56 RBIs and 39 runs scored. |
