Laureano Swings for the Cycle
Monday, July 23rd, 2018
Requiring speed, power and regular contact, the cycle is often seen as a test of a complete hitter. For Ramon Laureano, consider that test passed.
The 24-year-old right fielder hit for the cycle at Principal Park today to lead the Las Vegas 51s to a 8-7 win over the Iowa Cubs. All told, Laureano delivered 4 hits in 5 at-bats with 2 runs batted in and 3 runs scored.
"It feels good of course, but I'm not going to kid anyone -- there's a lot of luck in hitting for the cycle," he said after the game. "Several unique things have to come together all in the same game."
Ramon Laureano tripled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Walker Lockett in the 4th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 9th, flied out in the 10th and walked in the 13th.
Laureano is hitting .295 so far this season with 54 RBIs and 56 runs scored. He has 103 hits including 17 home runs, 35 walks and .369 OBP.
