5-Hit Blitz by Taveras Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 After a 5-hit effort to lead Jackson's 14-1 victory over the Springfield Cardinals, center fielder Leody Taveras told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the AA-level is really something special." The 19-year-old player earned his accolades today at The Ballpark at Jackson with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Cardinals. "His swing is getting there," said Generals skipper , who spoke glowingly of Taveras after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Leody did that to perfection today." Leody Taveras hit a solo-shot off Jhonathan Diaz in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 6th and walked in the 8th. Taveras is hitting .274 in 2018 with 9 RBIs and 3 home runs. |
