Avila Holds Springfield Hitless Monday, July 2nd, 2018 Is it better to be lucky or good? After leading the Reading Fightin Phils to victory, 13-0, and tossing a no-hitter over the Springfield Cardinals, Pedro Avila didn't have the answer. "I don't know," Avila said. "To do what I did today, I'm pretty sure it takes both." On his big day at Hammons Field, Avila fanned 8 and had 4 walks. And it seemed that when the Cardinals managed to hit the ball hard, it went right at a defender. "That's how you get a no-hitter," Avila said with a smile. "A lot of skill mixed with a little luck." In 15 starts this season Avila has recorded a 6-7 record and a 3.28 ERA. |
