Polanco Goes 5-for-8 Against Springfield Monday, July 9th, 2018 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Jhan Polanco today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Hammons Field and paced the Smokies to a 30-2 win over the Springfield Cardinals. After his dynamite batting performance, the Tennessee catcher told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 8 tries and put his name in the record book. Jhan Polanco hit an RBI single in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, hit a two-run double in the 7th, flied out in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th. For the season, Polanco is hitting at a .273 clip with no home runs, 6 RBIs and has scored 7 runs. He has 6 hits, 5 walks and a .407 on-base percentage. |
