Davis on Fire: 5-for-5 for Hartford Saturday, July 28th, 2018 Hartford Yard Goats first baseman Devin Davis had a day to remember at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium today, ripping apart the San Antonio Missions and sparking the Yard Goats to a 10-0 victory. Davis wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Davis told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Devin Davis singled in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off McKenzie Mills in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Davis is batting at a .256 pace this season, picking up 23 hits in 90 at-bats with 3 home runs, 12 RBIs and 19 runs scored. |
