Bad Behavior Costs Bellinger and Hernandez
Tuesday, July 31st, 2018
Yesterday at Regions Field Justin Bellinger and Jonathan Hernandez got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Birmingham Barons and Mobile BayBears. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.

Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Bellinger will have to sit out 2 while Hernandez would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.

During the current season Bellinger is batting at a .229 clip with 10 home runs and 43 RBIs. He has played in 94 games and scored 34 times.

In 21 starts this year Hernandez has posted 5 wins while suffering 9 losses. He has pitched 108.2 innings, allowed 131 hits, struck out 83 and has a 6.21 ERA.
