Super Swinger -- Vilade Slams 5 Hits Thursday, August 16th, 2018 Altoona third baseman Ryan Vilade could do no wrong in today's 26-1 win over the Cardinals as he collected 5 hits. "Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Cardinals skipper said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts." Vilade agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game. "Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready." Ryan Vilade hit a two-run home run off Marcos Diplan in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, walked in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. This season Vilade is batting .210 with 7 home runs. |
