Herrera Smashes 3 Homers for Clearwater
Monday, August 27th, 2018
Frank Herrera brutalized the Palm Beach Cardinals pitching staff, launching three home runs in today's 10-2 victory at Bright House Field. The Clearwater Threshers shortstop was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day.
"I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one."
For the game, he went 4-for-4 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Too much Frank Herrera today," Cardinals manager said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to."
Frank Herrera hit a solo-shot off Nolan Martinez in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Nolan Martinez in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Johan Oviedo in the 5th and singled in the 7th.
Herrera has a .228 average and a .303 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 54 hits, 4 home runs and driven in 23 runs.
