Indians Turn Back Baltimore, 5-4
|
The Cleveland Indians defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 5-4. Earning player of the game honors was first baseman Joey Votto, who was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Cleveland is now 27-16, 6 games up in the American League Central Division.
The Indians got a big at-bat from first baseman Eric Hosmer. For the game, Hosmer went 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 11th double of the season gave Cleveland a 3-2 lead.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Hosmer told the Cleveland Daily News.
