Braves Get One-Run Win at San Francisco
|
In a tight battle between the Atlanta Braves and the San Francisco Giants, pitcher Cole Hamels was in the zone. The Atlanta left-hander was named the player of the game in Atlanta's 2-1 win. In 6 innings, Hamels surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Picking up the save was Daniel Zamora, his 6th.
It could have been a different outcome for Atlanta, had it not been for Adeiny Hechavarria, the 30-year old shortstop . Hechavarria contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Atlanta up, 2-1.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Hechavarria.
The last-place Braves improved to 21-30.
