Rockies Stumble, Lose to Pirates
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates handed the Colorado Rockies a sound defeat, 11-1, at PNC Park. Robinson Chirinos was a main contributor to the win. He was 3-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 5 runs for Pittsburgh. Rick Porcello got the win, improving to 5-4. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 7 and walking 3. Colorado's current losing streak is now 4 games.
The Pirates got a big at-bat from right fielder Franmil Reyes. For the game, Reyes was 2-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Pittsburgh a 3-1 lead.
"The Pirates definitely had our number," said Colorado manager Rex Shuck.
