The first-place Cleveland Indians took on the Tampa Bay Rays at Progressive Field.

The Cleveland Indians got a stellar effort from pitcher Jimmy Nelson, helping Cleveland score a 5-2 win over the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. The winning pitcher was Nelson, now 2-2. He tossed 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. The save went to David Robertson, his 15th this season.

The Indians got an important contribution from second baseman Jose Ramirez, who in the bottom of the fifth punched a full count fastball into center for a 2-run double. It was his 15th double of the season and put the Indians ahead, 4-2.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Cleveland manager Mitchell King. "Our pregame was pretty good."

Cleveland is now 31-20, 5½ games up in the American League Central Division.
