Phillies Rally For Late Win Over Cardinals
|
The Philadelphia Phillies took St. Louis pitcher Chris Bassitt's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Citizens Bank Park. The final score had Philadelphia getting past the Cardinals, 3-1. Bassitt went 8 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 6. Kenley Jansen recorded his 17th save for Philadelphia. The Phillies, at 32-22, lead by one game in their division.
Trailing 1-0, Philadelphia's fortunes turned in the bottom of the eighth inning when the 31-year old first baseman Justin Bour lifted a first pitch changeup into the stands for a 3-run home run. The round-tripper put the Phillies up, 3-1.
Bour called the win "a collective effort."
