Harper has 4 RBI, Rangers Move to 50-27
|
A 4-RBI performance from the fan favorite Bryce Harper helped the Texas Rangers beat the Chicago White Sox, 8-6. The winner was Matt Shoemaker, who threw 80 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 6 runs on 9 hits. Will Harris converted his 24th save in 25 tries.
Ender Inciarte had a big 2-run single for the Rangers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Texas leading 5-4 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Anderson Severino and stroked the single to left. It was his 96th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rangers ahead, 7-4.
"I just love going out and having a big game," Harper said when asked about being named player of the game. "It's an honor to have your talents recognized."
Texas is now 50-27, 5½ games up in the American League West Division.
