Diamondbacks Bridle Dodgers, 2-0
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks got a magnificent performance from pitcher Freddy Peralta, who muffled the Los Angeles offense en route to a tight 2-0 Diamondbacks win at Chase Field. Peralta, the winner, moves to 9-2. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 3 walks. Riley Ferrell notched his 18th save in 20 chances.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but J.B. Wendelken didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Los Angeles trailing 2-0, Wendelken retired Randal Grichuk to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Wendelken, with a wink.
The Diamondbacks improved to 40-42.
