Fine Effort by Baez Not Enough in 8-5 Marlins Loss
|
The Miami Marlins got a superb performance from second baseman Javier Baez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Philadelphia. The Phillies won the game, 8-5. In spite of the loss, Baez was named the player of the game. He was 4-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Kenley Jansen earned his 26th save in 29 chances. The Phillies bumped their record to 50-34 with this latest triumph.
Philadelphia used the bat of Jesus Aguilar to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Phillies ahead, 7-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Aguilar told reporters after the game.
