The Kansas City Royals defeated the Cleveland Indians, 6-5, in American League action at Kauffman Stadium, with Kansas City shortstop Dansby Swanson named player of the game. Aaron Nola got the win, improving to 6-4. He held the Indians to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Paul Clemens notched his 1st save in 1 chances.
Lonnie Chisenhall, who is tied for 9th in the AL in doubles with 23, aided the Kansas City cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the right fielder was 3 for 3 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
