The Cincinnati Reds got a superb performance from pitcher Justus Sheffield. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Cleveland. The Indians won the game, 6-4. In spite of the loss, Sheffield was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. Cleveland reliever Edinson Volquez was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Edgar Santana. Cleveland improves to 52-34 with the win. They lead their division by 8½ games.

The Indians got a big at-bat from left fielder Marwin Gonzalez. For the game, Gonzalez went 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the second, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 35th hit of the season gave Cleveland a 2-1 lead.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Gonzalez. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
