Diamondbacks Win at St. Louis, 7-4
|
Arizona center fielder Raimel Tapia was instrumental in his team's 7-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Tapia, who is tied for 9th in the NL in stolen bases with 14, went 2-5 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Diamondbacks. Jhoulys Chacin got the win, improving to 5-6. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. Arizona goes to 45-48, St. Louis to 35-56.
With Arizona leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Tapia hit a sinker from Jesse Hahn for a 2-run double. It was his 18th double of the season and put the Diamondbacks ahead, 3-0.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Tapia told reporters after the game.
