Nationals Subdue Philadelphia, 3-2
|
Washington Nationals starter Yu Darvish was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-2. Joakim Soria, credited with the win, is now 4-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Jeremy Jeffress earned his 18th save in 20 chances.
Washington took a 3-2 lead on Aaron Hicks's 72nd hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Hicks hit in the top of the ninth, left Philadelphia pitcher Bryan Shaw visibly frustrated.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Philadelphia manager Anthony Cepperalo, "let me know."
After today's action, Washington sits at 47-45, while Philadelphia falls to 54-39.
