The Baltimore Orioles got a good effort from starter Cole Hamels in defeating the Washington Nationals at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The final score was 4-0. Hamels went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 4, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0. The Orioles bumped their record to 56-40 with this latest triumph.

Early in the game, first baseman Joey Votto had a 2-run home run for Baltimore. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Orioles on top, 2-0.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Hamels told the Baltimore Daily News.
