St. Louis pitcher Wei-Yin Chen did his part in helping his team beat the Oakland Athletics, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Chen got the win, improving to 8-8. He allowed 5 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. Chen allowed 3 earned runs. Zac Reininger, credited with the save, is now 2 for 3 in save opportunities.
Ozzie Albies was vital part of the St. Louis win. He went 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the first with two out, Albies hit a 2-run double. It made the score 3-0, in favor of the Cardinals.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Chen.
St. Louis, at 42-68, sits in last place in the National League Central Division.
