Phillies Bang Out 11-8 Win Versus Arizona
|
The Philadelphia Phillies overcame a good performance by Arizona first baseman Ryan McMahon to knock off Arizona, 11-8, at Chase Field. McMahon was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Philadelphia reliever Alex Claudio, now 6-3. The loser was Max Fried. The Phillies now have a mark of 66-48.
Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Leonys Martin to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put the Phillies on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Martin.
