Los Angeles used a superb performance from starting pitcher Carlos Martinez to down the Boston Red Sox, 2-1. Aroldis Chapman, credited with the save, is now 6 for 9 in save opportunities. The Angels sit in second place in the American League West Division with a record of 69-49.

Los Angeles used the timely hitting of Kevin Pillar to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Angels on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Los Angeles manager Steph Villeneuve.
