Twins Continue Skid Thanks to Carpenter, Indians
The Cleveland Indians defeated the Minnesota Twins, 6-3, at Target Field. Cleveland first baseman Matt Carpenter was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 3-3 with 2 home runs, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Max Scherzer got the win, improving to 3-0. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 hits and no runs, while striking out 8 and walking 1. The Indians have an impressive 72-45 record.

With Cleveland leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Carpenter hit a fastball from Matt Harvey for a 3-run home run. It was his 27th home run of the season and put the Indians ahead, 4-0.

Carpenter told a Cleveland Daily News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
