Phillies Jansen Nails Down 300th Save
|
In an effort that will possibly punch his ticket to the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, Kenley Jansen notched his 300th career save today at AT&T Park, leading the Philadelphia Phillies to a 6-3 triumph over the San Francisco Giants.
Known for his calm demeanor in the heat of competition, the 31-year-old Jansen was similarly collected after the game.
"To me it's just a number. I wasn't really nervous or thinking too much about it. I'm just trying to make my pitches and get hitters out," he said. The star reliever allowed no hits and no runs, while working 1 innings in recording his milestone save.
During his career Jansen has been credited with 300 saves. In 597 games, he has a 33-21 won-lost mark and has fanned 929 batters in 603.2 innings.
