Reds Nip Cardinals, 7-6
|
St. Louis shortstop Alex Bregman was sensational. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Cincinnati beat the Cardinals, 7-6. Bregman was named the player of the game despite the loss. Cincinnati reliever Sal Romano was the winner. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was David Oca. Daniel Norris got the save, his 2nd in 5 chances.
The Reds got a big at-bat from first baseman Ji-man Choi. For the game, Choi went 1-5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Cincinnati a 7-4 lead.
Choi called the triumph "a good team win."
With the win, Cincinnati goes to 64-60, while the Cardinals fall to 49-74.
