Carlos Martinez never let Houston get something going. The Los Angeles right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Angels to a 2-0 win. The win puts the Angels at 78-54, while the Astros drop to 52-79.

Martinez, who dominated for Los Angeles, earned the victory to move to 9-10. He was in control the whole game, scattering 4 hits over 8.1 innings, while striking out 4. Houston batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.

"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Martinez. "Successful pitchers do it."
