Cleveland rode a good effort from starter Max Scherzer to beat the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. The final score was 4-1. The slumping Rays have lost 6 straight.

Cleveland took a 3-1 lead on J.D. Martinez's 11th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Tampa Bay pitcher Juan Nicasio in the top of the eighth.

"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Martinez told the Cleveland Daily News.
