The Pittsburgh Pirates dealt the Colorado Rockies a 9-2 loss at Coors Field. LaMonte Wade was the star on offense. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Steven Matz got the win, improving to 6-7. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 4. Pittsburgh has now won 4 straight, while the Rockies have lost 4 in a row.
In the top of the first, Wade pounced on a 1-0 sinker from Aaron Sanchez and hit a 2-run home run. It put Pittsburgh on top, 2-0.
