Goldschmidt Sizzles -- Smokes Athletics for 5 Hits
|
Players get multi-hit games all the time, but 5-hit ones are a whole lot rarer. It happened at Yankee Stadium today when Paul Goldschmidt of New York scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Oakland Athletics.
He went 5-for-5 in a career performance to help the Yankees get by the Athletics, 9-6. The first baseman was in a talkative and jovial mood after the game, saying his swing "was really, really there today."
"I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens, good things happen," he said. "You know, like going 5-for-5. I could get used to days like this."
Paul Goldschmidt singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
In the 2019 season Goldschmidt is hitting .261 with 26 home runs.
