The Oakland Athletics got a good effort from starter Jerad Eickhoff in defeating the Los Angeles Angels at Oakland Coliseum. The final score was 4-2. Eickhoff, now 11-7, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Matt Barnes earned his 3rd save in 6 chances.
The Athletics got a big at-bat from shortstop Didi Gregorius. For the game, Gregorius went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 27th home run of the season gave Oakland a 4-2 lead.
After the game, Oakland manager Scot Hughes applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The Athletics' win now puts them at 64-74.
