Rays Lose to Indians, 3-1
|
The Cleveland Indians picked up a win at Tropicana Field, knocking off the Tampa Bay Rays, 3-1. On the mound for Cleveland was right-hander Jimmy Nelson, who played a pivotal role in the win. Brett Cecil earned his 12th save in 13 chances. The 'W' lifts Cleveland's record to 62-84.
The Indians got a big at-bat from center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury. For the game, Ellsbury went 1 for 3 with a home run. In the top of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Cleveland a 1-0 lead.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Nelson said.
