Mets Jolt Marlins with Late Rally
|
It was a fun time at Citi Field, where the Miami Marlins and New York Mets tangled.
The New York Mets picked up a win at Citi Field, knocking off the Miami Marlins, 5-3. On the mound for New York was right-hander Luis Severino, who played a pivotal role in the win. New York reliever Steve Cishek picked up the win, bumping his record to 5-2. George Kontos was collared with the loss. Corey Knebel earned his 23rd save in 27 chances.
Had Ian Happ not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Happ hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Mets.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Happ told the New York Citizen.
The 'W' lifts New York's record to 65-80.
