Twins Bang Out 6-4 Win Versus Washington
|
Minnesota designated hitter Jay Bruce was instrumental in his team's 6-4 win over the Washington Nationals. Bruce, who finished 2nd in the NL in home runs with 30 in 2013, went 2-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Twins. Jameson Taillon, the winner, improved to 3-11. He held the Nationals to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 0. The Twins now have a record of 54-92 with the win over Washington.
Bruce had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the fourth inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Twins went on to win.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Twins manager Al Wehr. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
