Orioles Trip Tigers in Extras
|
The Detroit Tigers got a superb performance from pitcher Gio Gonzalez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Baltimore. The Orioles won the game, 6-4. In spite of the loss, Gonzalez was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Justin Wilson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 16 save opportunities. Baltimore is now 84-64, 4 games up in the American League East Division.
Baltimore relied on the bat of Asdrubal Cabrera to get the win. The shortstop ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Orioles ahead, 6-4. For the game, Cabrera had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Baltimore manager Eric S.
