The exploits of third baseman Matt Chapman helped the Cleveland Indians defeat the Minnesota Twins, 5-2. Chapman went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Cleveland goes to 91-58. The win puts them 9½ games up in their division.
The Indians got a big at-bat from first baseman Matt Carpenter. For the game, Carpenter was 1 for 4. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 144th hit of the season gave Cleveland a 2-1 lead.
"This was a good win for us," said Chapman. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
