Orioles Win at Toronto, 9-1
|
The Baltimore Orioles beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 9-1, at Rogers Centre. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Joey Votto, who captured player of the game honors. He was 1 for 1 with a triple and 4 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Cole Hamels got credit for the win, improving to 4-7. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 5.2 innings. Toronto has now lost 4 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for Baltimore, had it not been for Nomar Mazara, the 24-year old left fielder . Mazara contributed a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Baltimore up, 4-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Mazara said.
