Alonso 3-5 as Nationals Squeeze Past Philadelphia
|
A 5-RBI performance from the 32-year old first baseman Yonder Alonso helped the Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 9-8. The Phillies, now 90-67, have lost 4 straight.
Alonso's nice game included a clutch run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Alonso said.
