Dominant Performance by Tanaka in Chicago Win
|
Busch Stadium was the site of a exceptional pitchers' duel.
The Chicago Cubs picked up a win at Busch Stadium, knocking off the St. Louis Cardinals, 1-0. Starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Dan Otero, credited with the save, is now 1 for 2 in save opportunities.
Tanaka was the winning pitcher. He raised his season record to 10-18. In 8.1 innings of work, Tanaka gave up no earned runs on 2 hits, while striking out 8. The Cardinals were never able to generate much offense.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Chicago skipper Garrett Hansford.
Chicago has now won 3 in a row.
