|
Texas right-hander Matt Shoemaker made an effective start against the New York Yankees at Globe Life Park in Arlington, leading his team to a 5-0 win. In 6.1 innings, Shoemaker surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Texas leads the American League West Division by 6½ games.
Texas took a 2-0 lead on Max Muncy's 26th home run of the season. The solo home run came off New York pitcher Zack Greinke in the bottom of the seventh.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Texas manager Eric Ferraro. "Our pregame was pretty good."
