Cruz Hits 2 home runs in Rays Win
The Tampa Bay Rays launched their 2019 campaign with a victory over the Houston Astros at Tropicana Field. Tampa Bay designated hitter Nelson Cruz was instrumental in the 7-5 win. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Tampa Bay reliever Darren O'Day picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Alex Colome shouldered the loss.

Cruz had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 0-1 cutter from Alex Colome, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Rays a 6-4 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Cruz.

"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Cruz.
