Nationals Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start
|
The Washington Nationals topped the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-2, in National League action at Nationals Park. The player of the game was Washington pitcher and Birmingham, Alabama native Corey Kluber. Kluber, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. The Nationals are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 2nd win in 5 games.
Washington took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, shortstop Chris Taylor hit a grand slam home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Washington manager Maurice Hamilton.
