Athletics Prevail, 3-1, Over Houston
|
The Oakland Athletics got a stellar performance from pitcher Zach Eflin, who handcuffed the Houston offense en route to a 3-1 win at Minute Maid Park. Oakland reliever Blake Parker picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. James Pazos took the loss. Sean Doolittle earned the save, his 3rd, for the Athletics.
The Athletics got a big at-bat from designated hitter Rhys Hoskins. For the game, Hoskins was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Oakland a 3-1 lead.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Eflin said.
With the win, Oakland pushes its record to 5-5.
